Dream time is very subjective. It’s already been pointed out that Alex’s absences from Dreamland do not necessarily correlate one-to-one with the time he spends awake, so there’s no reason that his time spent there will link straight across with the time he spends asleep.
This is also true of dreaming in our reality – you only dream for a few minutes but it can seem like days from within the construct of the dream.

That is because actual dreams are done montage-style. You only actually experience brief snippets of it… and your mind simply assumes the rest.
