@bmon: In physics, the weight does not matter… all things fall down at the same time. Whether you’re 10 pounds or twenty pounds, everything falls down at the same rate at the same time. unless you spread your arms, you get air resistance, and you slow down….
Actually, the weight is entirely a red herring. The cannonball will hit first simply because the baby’s shape and clothing will increase wind resistance and slow it down, however fractionally.
As for bouncing, it depends. The baby, being a softer material, might absorb all the momentum by spreading rather than bouncing. The cannonball, however, could still bounce provided it doesn’t deform plastically.
well i dont know about everyone else but i have strange conversations like this with my brother all the time and i guess if it werent for him i wouldnt know about half the stuff i do now including dreamland chronicles so…
If it comes from a film-quote, it becomes acceptable by default… unless the film was really bad.
It isn’t like we’re talking about the THIRD Addams Family film here.
Why are they climbing when they can fly? 😛
exactly!!;]
They are too excited to fly?
If the baby weighs ten pounds, and the cannonball weighs twenty, and we drop them at the same time, which one will hit first? (The cannonball?)
Very good. Now, which one will bounce?
(from Addams Family Values)
In the sand, it’s, rather, which will leave the deeper crater?
The cannon ball, probably. But if you, say, alter the height, the baby could make a larger crater than the cannonball.
Yes, but the cannonball would still be deeper. And the baby COULD bounce.
yeah, but if they were both dropped on, say, a trampoline, then they both would bounce 😛
Hey, you guys (ironbandit, Falco, Kitty) are sicker than I am!
Oops: forgot to add: LOL 🙂

-_-
Nice story. Still reading.
You know that, and I know that.
But does the baby know that?
(I figured the cannonball was to dense to know much of anything.)

I love how discussing dropping baby and bowling dropping is so normal with you people.
bowling ball*
afraid of heights – but ok to fly!

Forgetting to add that is usually a good thing.
Naturally nobody is taking the physical properties of the ground into question here. Whether they fall onto granite or soft soil makes a difference.
