I am totally expecting Alex to wake up, talk to Nicole, and bring back a message from her to Felicity, to resolve the guilt from childhood. Or, maybe he’ll have her wear the sword necklace, and come into dreamland herself, to tell Felicity it’s ok. OR! Maybe Alex… no that idea is just ridiculous.
Some of my favorite webcomics–this one included–were recommended by other webcomics.
I wonder how exactly will nicole react? Maybe freak out and don’t want to even talk about it until the sweet talk her into it? But of course if she didn’t freak out by now that probably won’t happen… Can the medicine bag carry small photos? Hey, can it carry an iPod nano? Suddenly i have so many questions!… Buut i gues we shall see (a friend is in my back saying i shouldn’t fill the comments section with questions if i won’t come back for answerers anyway…).
So i just say: I’m glad Alex found the ‘golden ticket’. Hear that Felicity? Just a few more cliffhangers! Just a few! I’m sure you can make it!

If this comic didn’t update 5 days a week, It would be torturous to read. I read many webcomics and this one is one of my top two, both of which update 5 days a week. It’s still hard waiting for the new one each day. First thing I do when I get to work is check out th new webcomics, saving my favs for last of course. I love the story Scott. I hope the movie turns out just as good. The only thing about that is that in all likelihood, the movie will come out before you’ve revealed the entire story to the world at the pace it takes to tell it a page a day. Or do you intend to release the movie AFTER the entire story has been revealed?
Can’t wait to see what happens on Monday!
I think the sword is attuned to Alex only however, can you imagine if it did work that way, give it to nicole and have her appear in Dreamland with this huge sword!
I honestly don’t know how the movie thing is going to turn out.
As it stands TODAY…the movie will be different from the book.
So no real spoilers.
But it changes with every addition to the team.

Sup Scott. Love the story dude. I’m sure Alex appreciates the break over the weekend to recover from his epiphany before he reveals his wise plan on Monday. Maybe this is the only way to keep his head from truly exploding.

Now that news wasn’t good. I’m very disappointed that they don’t want to keep all the main characters in the movie script. Maybe we (the funs) can do something about it (like put some leverage to the script writer?)

Not sure if this is what you mean, but if you delete the end of the url to the yyyy/mm, you’ll get to an archive page that shows what happened that month in thumbnails. So if you go to the beginning of the chapter from the archive and try this, perhaps it’ll work! Good luck!

I wouldn’t mind seeing the Dreamland movie take a plot twist, but I would be disapointed to learn that the character structure is changed. Oh I’ll see the movie opening weekend regardless but I would hate to see the movie take a *really* wrong turn. LIke the Dark is Rising movie is so altered from the book that I’ve only seen *one* piece of canon from what I am able to sit through.

I like the head explosion, but I would prefer some way to get Nicole back into Dreamland. More likely is that Alex will use the pouch to connect Felicity and Nicole through letters. Not as exciting or dramatic, but doable…

Einstein wasn’t exactly a math whiz either, or a PhD for that matter, and he still managed to figure out a simple mathematical formula applicable to nuclear physics and relativity. For all we know, Alex might just pass college and then come up with something extraordinary afterward.

Hollywood, attracted to a movie idea because of great art, solid storytelling and interesting characters, so they buy the rights so they can change all three. 😉
Of course I’ll still go see “Alex’s Sleepytime Adventures” (or whatever silly thing they change the name to) and probably buy the dvd too, lol.

I’ve not been able to read the comic during the week, I’ve been too busy, leaving the house before sunup and not returning until after sundown. It has been just enough to log in at TopWebComics and vote for all of the 3 dozen favorites of mine. So having the nav bar allows me to hop ‘back’ to where I last read and start where I’d left off.
Comments section is new too! Tiered comments like a forum has. New Avatars. I go away for a week and this is what happens? I should go away more often… 😉
I really like where you’re taking the story, Scott. Perhaps another adult will visit Dreamland shortly? We know that Nicole HAS been there in the past, but how hard would it be for her to get back there. Might be just what Felicity needs to pull through.

The 20k readers a day that come by is wonderful.
But a feature film will give The Dreamland Chronicles worldwide coverage.
Even if the movie stinks (I hope it doesn’t) the NAME of Dreamland chronicles will be known far better than I could do on my own.
No one can change the story I’m writing. The one I’m illustrating. This one right here.
I’ll always have this.
Do I WANT the movie to be like the book? Sure. But this isn’t dreamland. This is reality.

Awesome work, Scott and I am enjoying the new layout.
Just noting a subtle difference in the archive pages just revealed to us by natty.
The last 5 thumbnails in the September archive are in higher resolution than all the rest. Perhaps that may be a result of the website revamping?
I can magnify the window in Firefox and they stay sharp. The first thumbnails in September and all in the previous months are fuzzier when magnifying the archive page.
It might be interesting to see the layout of monthly pages altogether at once in order from left to right, top to bottom, rather than the other way around. Though I don’t expect that to be of significant importance to the one revamping the site. Still very useful.
Have You talked to Tom Fishcbach from “Two Kinds”? He might be able to put something in.
Do you like, already have the story out line/script written? if so, parts of it are predictable, some even cliche.

Another poster mentioned the characters seen in light (Alex and Nastajia, reflecting hope) and in the shadows (the centaurs, reflecting their doubt Felicity will recover). If so, today Orion is “seeing the light” more and more as Alex has his insight.

NOOOO!! I’ve been reading this comic for the last week, and I have fallen completly in love with it. What a terrible cliffhanger to finally get to! Oh well, guess I’ll have to start waiting patiently for the next pages.
The last 5 thumbnails are actually the real full-size pages from the /comics/ folder directory. All it is doing is shrinking the full-size source image to thumbnail size to fit the dimensions without losing magnifiable high resolution. All the rest of the thumbnails are low resolution copies from the /comics-archive/ folder directory.
I get the impression that Alex is capable of thinking, planning, organising, etc, but he’s just too lazy to do it most of the time. I suspect that the disapproving comments he’s had from Nast, Orion and Nicole have affected him more than he would admit.
Finally! He actually gets it!!!!

My guess Is that alex can bring anyone he wants to Dreamland if he goes to sleep with him/her holding hands or holding the sword-chain of the sword-indian bag. I guess we will have to wait.

After doing nothing aside from voting for your comic all week, I am very tempted to go back and start from the beginning again. Those stills that you put up as a reward for voting are AMAZING!
And, I’m willing to bet that Alex’s idea has something to do with bringing Nicole back the Dreamland to visit Felicity. Good speculation above, the artifact bag may be a key, or touching Alex while sleeping next to him may transport someone else to Dreamland. I guess that we all have to wait and see what Scott delivers next week.
George, you are entirely correct! I stated above that I’ve only had time to vote for TDC at TopWebComics all week, and the first one that I catch up on when time permits is…THIS ONE! Unfortunately, this comic does not have the following that others have, or we wouldn’t have slipped out of the top ten.

Actually, I can fully understand this.
Cliche, in terms of Dreamland, is actually quite creative and unique.
I’m not putting this very well; let me try again: in the context of this story, it would appear that Scott is trying to show that Dreamland is the source of most (if not all) fairytale/storybook cliches and plot devices. He would seem to be hinting that all classic storytellers got their ideas from “real” adventures in Dreamland.
So “cliche” really is what Scott is aiming for!
