This trope is one of the most depressing, but it really makes the story so much better.
This particular one isn’t really about our Hero Protagonist meeting with Old Famous Hero. It is Minor Character meeting with Hero Protagonist…
Honest, to a fault. Tactfulness can sometimes be waived in view of the circumstances, but a minature teddybear… What would possess you to dissapoint it so?
I mean, it’s not just a teddy bear you were mean to; it’s a teddy bear *child*.
The kid doesn’t even have a pair of pants, and you’re going to be mean to him.
Way to raise the bar for callous jerks everywhere, Alex.
Aww…
That was a mean way to put it
🙁

oh poor little teddy… no reason to be so mean.
oh my god he just made a little teddy bear child sad :'(
