I don’t see this moment to wake up as so inopportune. I mean, things would’ve been a lot trickier if Alex had woken up while they were still in Hilmdel. Sure, they will have to leave him behind there, but the dwarven guide did give them all rather clear and simple instructions on how to reach Aethos, so it shouldn’t be too hard for him to catch up with them there.

Considering other times (and places) Alex has woken up, this was a relatively good time to wake. The immediate danger has passed and the group doesn’t particularly need him right now.
Boy, it sure is hard to see Paddinton’s face the same time as the others’. And regarding the others, is Kiwi still with them? I haven’t noticed her fluttering about lately. Her whole body is nearly as hard to see as Paddingtons face. 🙂
