I don’t know if you guys are noticing this…
But in the last chapter…I got a lot of comments from readers (and my peers) that I was using the 4 panel horizontal layout too much. It’s a comfortable and cinematic layout that I enjoy. But I was maybe over-using it a bit too much.
SO…I wanted you guys to notice this chapter. I made a concerted effort to mix up the page layouts. I hope you like.
THE DREAMLAND CHRONICLES BOOK ONE will be in STORES!
Yes…for all of you readers who’ve been asking me when you can buy it at your local Barnes and Noble or Borders…your day is almost here.

I personally think that panel layout should be dictated by the mood you want to convey. Scott McClouds book is a wonderful read and can help you break panels down into a science. Truth be told though I don’t have any complaints about the panels and I am usually keen on these things. It is fairly obvious that you are prepping DC for the big screen but I think that just rocks. One of my big rants in my art class is how comics are no longer kid friendly in the States. Now their are exceptions but they are far and few between. DC is a great step in the right direction. My work is pg13 but I am thinking the next set of books may go the pg route. I also really dig that you give some of your e-bay sales to children Diabetes research. If you would like to e-mail me your mailing address I would love to send you the inked guest page I did for you to sell for charity. I would do it but I have never messed with e-bay. In any case Keep up the good work.

This has been bugging me for a while but… why are the dwarves huge?
I’m wondering if this Dreamland Chronicles volume 1 will be different from the volume 1 I already purchased a couple of months ago.

To answer Bleh, I think the dwarven king is the only giant dwarf. Not sure why, just enjoying the originality.
Well, I was gone a couple of days, due to my Granddaughter being born, (‘sigh’ life is soooo good) so I had to catch up reading DC. If the rest of Chapter 13 is this good, it’s gonna really ROCK!
DC book one is gonna be at Barnes and Noble’s, eh? Sounds like just the book to read a little Granddaughter…
Maybe it’s cool to change from horizontal to vertical panels, and mix them too. That gives a lot of dinamic to the page.
And a personal observation: adding plus symbols to a question to give it more enphasis maybe works good on chat, but in a comic I think you should use a bigger type, or maybe a different one. Two “+” it’s ok, but using three seems a bit excesive.

I’ve been waiting for Nico to get some take-down for a long time now. His little cut wasn’t enough – I’m not usually this bloodthirsty. 🙂 If neither the dragon or the Dwarf King back down, this’ll be great!
Heck, if Alex were to join in against Nico, I’d be chained to the computer screen waiting for the next page to post! 🙂

I have to ask, what exactly are we looking at in the last panel, the flesh towards the top? I figure it has to be part of his arm, but I just can’t see how the arm could be laying like that…
It really looks like the underside of a pec to me. o_o;
His right arm is tucked back behind him to grab his weapon. You see his belt and his light blue vest/armor and the flesh of his arm.
What, Nicky, you didn’t hear him the first time? Yes, he “demands”!

I think the only negative thing about your way of changing up the layout is the white background instead of a black one. I think it really threw me off. Because, the setting is so dark, I think it would look better if the background where the panels are resting is black. Dunno. Just my opinion.
Dreamland Book ONe and Book Two are going to be the SAME book that you guys can buy here online.

As for Bognok (the king dwarf) being so big…it’s because.
That’s it. I just thought it’d be cool to have a dwarf who’s bigger than Alex and gang (except for Paddington).
The rest of the dwarves are “normal” dwarves.

I’m not sure why no one has noticed this before, but there is totally a page missing. This one is described in the write-up as page 737, but it’s supposed to be 736. Not to mention that Nicodemus is reacting to something no one actually said. :c
No one noticed because it wasn’t like that before. Probably happened in the site change. (But you’re right, this time. There does appear to be a numbering fault)

You are correct, a page is indeed missing. Basically, the dwarf lord demands that Nicodemus provide an explanation for what the tablet says.
