Page 714…
last full day at comic con for us
Thanks for your patience while we go through our difficulties with finding Internet connections while travelling this week
Thank you also to the many wonderful readers who tracked me down and said hi!
It’s so wonderful to meet you all
The interaction between Nastajia and Bognok here looks and feels like a father or grandfather figure speaking with his children.
Well…this’ll be interesting.
Way to persevere! Thank goodness it is Friday, eh? 🙂
Wowza…he must have a very gentle touch, or else that little “elven trinket” must be made of sterner stuff than it would appear! 😉
your dwarves are freaking HUGE! They look more like half giants than dwarves. Figuring Alex is around 6 foot, Naj is probably 5’6 or so. That makes that dwarf near 10 foot tall.
Yeah Jellybean… if you read the previous strips, you’d see that the king of the dwarves is a lot bigger than the other dwarves.
Just curious – all the other dwarves are short, Bognok’s like a half giant… Why’s he so much bigger?
Oh, so he hasn’t even gotten the message from his forefathers yet. I was thinking he already read something in the jewel. Boy, he sure pauses alot, LOL!
Has it been established that he’s *not* a half-giant? Yes, that would make for an awkward parental relationship, but such has been done in other fantasies. (Glad to know it was Hagrid’s *mother* who was the giant.)
just love pad’s dumb smile =p
Indeed.
In old fiction, it was common to feature the main characters as being of a much bigger size than everyone, just to show they were important. Gargantua, by Francois Rabelais is a good example of this, he is huge, but still, his size seems to change troughout the story.
All this to say, I don’t think his size is such a big deal.
Sheesh, is Bognok really as tall as Paddington here?
Okay, not in the third panel, but in the first it’s hard to tell the perspective…
Dude is slow.
I couldn’t find you at ComicCon yesterday and I was sad. 🙁
Scott, it was wonderful to meet you and (very briefly) your family at the con. I’m sorry to hear about your dad. Erin and I will have you in our thoughts and prayers.
he must have taken steroids in college or something ’cause he is just too dam big to be a dwarf
I would presume that Dwarves gain positions of rank through a mixture of combat ability and heredity. So, their King would have to be incredibly strong, and maybe over the years a genetic defect in their family line has led to the royal family being almost of similar height to the other races, with the extended reach that they enjoy too. [extended reach=longer swings with the axe, so more people defeated…]
WTF!!! THE ELF IS FREAKING BIGGER THAN PADDINGTON!!!
Nastajia: “Can you feel it pulling?”
Bognok: “Yes, I…”
Amulet: “In four…hundred…feet…turn left. Then…turn right.”
Is it just me or is the dwarf the.
bigest efing thing in the room
I call foul!
DWARFS CANNOT USE MAGIC, OR FEEL MAGIC!
OK.
Time out while we check the rule book…
The king is shrinking or elf is growing. In Panel one Nasti is at his waste, 3 at his elbow and 4 at the shoulder.
And suddenly in the next panel we see the magical shiny having thrown out a wire and it pulling itself towards the tablet 😮
twist it! pull it! bop it!
Better than a GPS. At least the amulet doesn’t lead 19 year old girls diving their brother’s cars into the most ghetto areas possible.
Oh I’m sorry… did this suddenly become Ferelden when I wasn’t looking?
