Issue 9 is done!
Yay. I finished it this week.
So now I have enough pages to last to December 4th (my birthday coincidently).
Now…a short break…then on to Issue 10.
I want to let you all know I feel confident we will easily have enough pages to make it to our 2 year anniversary of being online (January). But after that…I’m not sure what’s going to happen.
I need to work with Karen regarding designs for issue 12 and beyond. Then Ivan for modelling. Stefano is doing designs for upcoming environments.
What I’m saying is. I need to see what my finances are once we hit the 2 year mark as to when I can finish the rest of the series.
Issue 12 will mark the halfway point of the Dreamland Chronicles story.
As of Monday we will have hit the 500 page mark in under 2 years. That’s a pretty amazing feat for any webcomic. Especially one like Dreamland that takes so much effort.
I just want to be honest with you all that this has cost me…sigh…I don’t even want to say how much money over the last 6 or 7 years in building this world. And I am NOT a rich man…ha ha.
So I am taking every step I can to ensure that there will be no stoppages of daily updates…but I can’t promise anything after January.
I will keep you all up to date on our finances and the progress of things.
I have faith that it’ll all work out. I think what we’re doing here is a good thing.
People need something to dream about. Something positive. Something for All Ages.
I really do believe that.
The emails and letters I get from readers around the world who tell me how much Dreamland is a part of their lives…
Moms who read Dreamland to their children every morning.
Teenagers who read it to their younger siblings.
Whole families who read it together.
It’s just humbling.
I know I say this a lot. But I don’t think I could ever say it enough.
Thank you all for your support.
Be it buying the books, downloading the Wowio books, emailing me letters of encouragements, visiting at cons, or even just telling your friends about this site. I really am honored and humbled by it all.
When people ask me what I would do if I had all the money in the world…my answer is simple.
Exactly what I’m doing right now…doing Dreamland.
Thanks for making it possible.
Wow. Nice! 🙂
Please know that your readers do appreciate the hard work, time, and money that you and others have put into this project. I know if I had the money, I would personally finance you for a year. But, alas, I do not. 🙁 Keep up the good work for as long as you can, and I for one will be one of the loyal ones here till the very end!
hopefully you will be able to continue after January. I agree with the poster before me who said they would finance you if they could. Unfortunately I’m a college student with no money… so I can’t even buy the books. This is a wonderful story though, and it should continue for a long time.
Talking of finished stuff… When’s the second collection due out, Scott?
we have the same birthday! we clearly rock.
Also, I wanted to point out that you put emphasis on random words sometimes. It confuses readers. A few of my friends and I have often discussed this and we would like to inquire about who chooses the ephasized words and why? most of them are okay, though.
Jordan:
Thanks!
Ailadinya:
Thank you. That’s very kind of you.
Jen:
Thank you too. I appreciate it.
Elliot:
It’s on it’s way here from the printer. should be any week now.
Stephanie:
Yay. We DO rock…don’t we?
🙂
As for the emphasis on words. They’re not random. When I read it aloud…that’s where I emphasize the words. So it’s how it reads to ME. You’re not the first person to say something about it.
But I’ve also had an equal amount of people saying they like it.
I feel it gives the readers a better understanding of the subtleties of the dialog.
Thanks again for reading.
It has been a lot of work; and I appreciate being able to read Dreamland immensely. It’s good to know there’s a lot to look forward to, as well -even if you’re not sure about the mid/long-term future.
I’m one of those teenagers who read it… though *ah-hem* I don’t have any younger brothers or sisters to use as an excuse! 😉 Haha. 😀
Excellent! Thanks, Scott 🙂
Just wanted to say that Dreamland is my favorite webcomic, and the reason why is simple: you’re putting not just your effort into this, but your heart, and you make that stand out. I love what you’re doing, everything about Dreamland so far is absolutely fantastic. (The only thing that bothers me is the cleavage, but that doesn’t keep me from appreciating every other detail in the story- from the smallest of renderings to the largest of scenes.) How you managed to put it all together, I don’t know, but if I had money, I’d buy all of the Dreamland books. But sadly, I don’t have any money. 🙁
As soon as you release Book 2 in your online store, I’ll be all over it man. Maybe even a statuette.
Photosoph – I think Dreamland is enjoyable for nearly any age reader. I’m sure that was Scott’s intention from the beginning.
I really hope you can continue creating this story and if I was a millionaire with heaps of money, I’m sure you could get a pile of it. Sadly this is not true. So only this weird and useless bit of text to say that I really enjoy dreamland and I do hope you can continue it. It would be awesome 🙂
Wow. I. Love. This. webcomic. It is one of the best stories I’ve ever seen online. I can’t wait till Monday for another comic. I’m one of the few teenagers that doesn’t have a younger sibling as an excuse for reading this. Sorry about you being tight on finances. My family is tight right now too. Though if you want to be able to not be so tight. Just sell t-shirts in your shop, many other webcomic creators do that to make a living.
This webcomic is simply AWESOME, the rendering is awesome, the storyline is even BETTER!!!???
I don’t know how you do it, but you really do deserve a break after page 500!!!
This comic IS REALLY AWESOME!!!!
THANK YOU FOR STARTING IT IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!
