Avatar the Last Airbender…
Have any of you seen this show on Nickelodeon?
WHat fun!
Me and the boys (my twin 4 year old boys Brendan and Logan) have been watching it at night before bed and it’s just a blast.
WHat I love about it is it’s serialized. It’s sequential. There’s chapters and books and what not. The characters grow…learn powers…etc.
I may pick up the DVDs one day and we’ll start from the beginning. But right now Brendan really likes Momo (the flying Lemur thing) and Logan likes Apa (the flying Yak thing).
Logan gets on my shoulders and smacks me saying “Yip Yip”.
๐
I looooooooooooove Avatar! My friend introduced me to the show a few weeks ago, and I’ve since bought the first season and am waiting for the second season box-set to be released. And I, too, love that the characters change and develop as the plot progresses. Zuko is my favorite. ๐
You know, if you really had it written in Attic Greek, I would be so impressed with you. lol, but “Greekified English” passes ๐ I was very entertained with your message … although of course, I had to remember that it was done in symbol via keys not transliteration… hehe.
We love Avatar too! My son (20 months) is also named Logan and I can’t wait until he’s old enough to enjoy it with me and my husband.
We have the first season on DVD and I highly recommend picking it up! It’s fantastic.
My favorite is Appa too ๐ YIPYIP! We have taught that to our son when we hold our arms out to have him come to us. He giggles and loves it.
I love it when people find out just how awesome a show like Avatar is.
I watch it on TV whenever I can, and have downloaded as many as I could find and watch them on my iPod at work!!
Toph is my favorite, but Sokka has the number one funnies quote I’ve ever heard: “Boomerang!! You really DO come back!!”
I’d suggest picking up the box-set instead of the individual DVD’s. The first season one is out already and it’s got fancy extras.
The cover art is cool too.
Hey! Those are greek letters! As far as I can tell it says “Text of the mer-people of Naroobi.
Next line “I wish I had something to say here but hey i?u not as smart as you are” then something behind the merman, “wow.”
After that there’s not many whole sentences that I can read. “You” something “a translate” something “off a wall” something “anyways, feel” something. Haha, not much more I can read than that. It’s hard to see.
Oh hey, someone else also saw it was written in greek.
Very cute. ^___^
Our whole household love Avatar – from our 3yr old all the way up to my wife and I. Fun series and not overly violent considering the storyline.
I love Avatar!! my favortive would have to be Zuko and Appa.
Avatar is the one thing on Nicktoon’s that I still watch. I was lucky enough to see the very first episode when it aired and have been hooked ever since.
Favorite Character’s: Zuko’s uncle ?Iro? or Toph.
Can’t wait for the third season to start ๐
Unfortunatly I don’t have cable, but I have seen Avatar. My sister borrowed the second season DVD set and I saw a few there and some from the first and third on YouTube and other video sites.
I like it, and I think it’s one of the best shows on Nick (along with Danny Phantom! :D) I hope it doesn’t get canceled.
Apa is awesome!!! And Zuko’s uncle can be so funny sometimes!
Totally off topic, but what’s the third vote incentive of?
I honestly have no idea lol.
It’s Marion from Raiders of the lost ark…

I knew it looked familiar!
You know what the funniest thing about Avatar is?
It’s a lot like pokemon……
-1) Main character is on a quest to master his chosen job
and both have names that begin with the letter “A”
(Aang, Ash)
-2)Both have cute animal Companions that follow them around. (Momo, Pikachu)
-3) Both have a group of companions that follow them around and a) The main guy in the companions group seems to fall in love with every beautiful woman he meets.
(Saka, Brock)
-4) They have a dedicated evil enemy group that seems to follow them wherever they go (The Fire Nation, Team Rocket)
-5) A Valuable lesson is learned every single episode.
This is just my opinion, you’re welcome to your own.
Excellent show. It is so rare to see a show that rewards the loyal and attentive viewer. I am so thrilled to see that it’s a popular show, considering children’s TV here in the US has been getting dumber and dumber as the years go by. I really hope that American networks and animation producers take the hint and start producing smarter and deeper stuff.
AWESOME show.
if you want to start watching it from the beginning: http://www.theavatarportal.com/ is a website from which you can watch ALL the episodes on. I mean, i think it’s streaming from other locations but that’s how i’ve seen all of avatar. i just can’t wait for the third book to begin!
OMG!! I love that show too!!! I’m always so embarassed thought coz it’s a ‘kids’ show but I love it how the characters are so fleshed out!! Also how it’s sooo funny!! Sokka is funny but call me weird, but i thought Zuko was hot ๐ I even entered a comp and won book 1, volume 1 with a pack of gordon the gnome and dora the explorer ๐ i gave the other two to my doctor (to distract the kids while getting their needles) but i get teased by my parents when i recieved it ๐
“Logan gets on my shoulders and smacks me saying รขโฌลYip Yipรขโฌย.”
That is the funniest thing I’ve ever heard.
My wife and I watch really got into the show in the second season, so we went and purchased the Season 1 Box set. It really is a well produced and well written animated series. I would highly recommend picking it up to watch with your kids from the beginning. The story flows very well and is so much more impactful if seen from the start.
Much love for serialized animation of almost every kind, but Avatar in particular. My husband and I have a debate going aobut who will teach Aang Firebending. Will it be Uncle or a redeemed Zuko? Please, Zuko cannot be so stupid as to believe a word his sister says. He’s got to be playing a deeper game. Please be the “inside man”, Zuko!
The episode that broke my heart was Uncle mourning his own son. ๐ So tragic and poingant, it illustrated the wasteful losses on both sides the war. Hmm, there’s a pretty important lesson.
Awesome, finding out so many people who read Dreamland also love Avatar, and that you do, too! I’ve been watching it I think since the beginning, and can’t get enough of it! I wish I could catch it on more often, as I really want to know what’s going on now!
Ah, and Kirith, Uncle Iroh and Toph are also my favorites! ;D I love Iroh because he’s just so adorable, and Toph as she reminds me of me (my best friend even says she acts like I do). Sokka and Suki (along with the Kiyoshi Warriors and Lady Kiyoshi in general, because they just look awesome) are also high up there, as well. Plus now that his character’s more fleshed out than it was, I’ve gotten to really like Zuko, and I love to hate Azula. x3
I’m a big fan of Avatar, at this point. An old Army buddy of mine introduced me to it. We get together and have a party every time a new DVD is released, because we like to watch it all in order. Definitely worth purchase.
