Page 1390….
Hi all!
Sorry for the slight delay (I’m posting 9 hours late).
Hope you’re enjoying these pages. There’s a lot going on with the water, drops, grass, sand, etc.
So the rendering and post are a bit more than normal (nothing like the rain scenes…yikes).
🙂
Well worth the wait 🙂
Yup! They DO recognize him as king!
Certainly the merman has the tiniest waistline I’ve ever seen in a male (real or cartoon)! Talk about girls trying to emulate Barbie’s impossible body measurements. Perhaps as a merman he could have a more believable waist that matches his aquatic lower body section.
Maybe his bottom half is a smelt? :p
Especially since the princess is such a babe!
Is it just me, or is he flirting with Nastajia? (just kidding, Scott) lol
I noticed that too. I suppose all that swimming has its benefits.
Beautiful page! Love the environs!
Alex: “Get your hands off my girl!”
I like the formal language.
I do want to remind you of the water’s index of refraction. It’s about 1.3 officially, but it’s kind of missing in these scenes. It looks more like the water is just painted in front of the legs, so the light from the legs are not bent like it’s supposed to.
Nitpicky, I know. And not really a big deal, but something I noticed, and it kinda bugged me…
You can ignore me now.
Hush, you. We don’t want to give him any ideas that could make the rendering take longer. 😉
I think Kronk from Emperor’s New Groove has the same torso.
sweet page =D
Well, I think since it’s a fantasy comic it fits that his waist is so slim. I don’t think it’s meant to be realistic. And from all of the stories I’ve read and heard any creature from the world of the strange and fantastical has never bared any semblance to a normal human being.
Ooh! Is that an official number?
If so…maybe I can type that into the refraction settings and see how it looks.
Thanks.
The merman has that insanely tiny waist, he looks deformed. I haven’t ever complained about any panel, ever, but that I think needs a bit of rework.
why yes, yes he certainly does have a similarly tiny waist. At least when in comparison to his upper torso. But then its not just Kronk’s waist that is tiny, it is his entire lower body.
Anyone notice that this guy is really buff but is as skinny as a girl super model?
How can the mermaids be in that kind of shallow water and still stand (or swim?) up straight like that?

Check the column labelled ‘n’. Water’s 1.333
Always good to know where to find these things!
Thanks professor Wikipedia! ;p
That’s the first thing I noticed!
