Page 1236…
Hi all!
For those who’ve emailed me in the past couple weeks. Please be patient. I’m still digging through all of my emails.
I hope to be caught up by the weekend.
Our iPad app is almost done. Hopefully will be in review at Apple next week.
So exciting.
Thanks again for reading!
Scott
that’s not THE sword
is it?
Epic scenes. Love the rain. Love the reflections made. (Esp. off Alex’s armor)
I love how the scantily clad women always tend to stay on their feet while the fully armored men are strewn across the field injured or dead.
Clearly the secret is the fact that everyone always shoots for the armor.
It’s the secret of Batman. Nobody thinks to actually shoot him between the eyes, because everyone just goes “OH LOOK IT’S A SHINY” and shoots for that.
Same principle. At least that’s my explanation for why everyone always aims right for where the battle armor/bulletproof vest is instead of somewhere that you can see in plain sight is completely unprotected.
It’s because they want to knock the armor off of the scantily clad women, whereas they can actually think if the person comes “dressed for battle.”
You’ve got to be kidding. Seriously. Why would they want Nick to…. oh RIGHT. The sword imbues wisdom or something. They want Nick to realize he’s wrong…..
That’ll never work.
As one last note: If some horrible tragedy befalls you here Scott, I’m learning necromancy just so that I can raise you from the dead and hear what on earth you were planning next.
The helmets for the elves there didn’t seem to do a bit if good.
For some reason I think Anastaj is thinking “Dam why’d I draw the short straw. Felicity is up there shmoosing Alex…MY Alex!”
I like Nicodemus’s smirk at the end. Evil vibes…! But this is good writing guys. I have no clue what’s gonna happen.
(Though to be honest I’d like Nicodemus to be redeemed in some way before the end. Totally out of the blue I know but just saying. He’s too cool to be killed off.)
I really didn’t see it playing out like this… sweet! Gotta love something unpredictable.
I wonder if Alex will sheathe the sword in Nicodemus’ liver.
He’s either going to stab Nico or he’s still playing for time. Not sure which, yet. An assassination run always made the most sense, as Nico is quite literally the only target they need to take down.
Not sure if someone mentioned it – but do you folks really think Dan is such a fool? I thought from the moment I saw those nightmare creatures spying on him that he must have a plan up his sleeves. Like playing the “Cretian Game” from “Full Metal Panic – 2nd Raid” (for those who don’t know: Do the opposite of what you are told). I’m pretty sure they suspected being watched and worked out another plan in secret. And I REALLY want to see how that works out ^^.
Let the stabbing of Nicodemus commence! This is just too weird, I actually believe Alex WILL give the sword to Nic, but that’s according to plan.
Why do I have the feeling that this story will end in…3, 2, 1….
::SHOVES THE SWORD INTO NIC’S STOMACH:: BooYa!
“Allright” ???? oooh…NOW it’s getting interesting. The casualness by which Alex says “allright” reeks of ultimate doom for Nic. If I were him, I’d quit posturing and start running.
Oh ,Yeah, tried that..Advise : don’t, I practiced on a chatty aunt..worse action of my life! 😆 I’ll go for 24/7 guarding of Scott, AND a digital copy of his brain.(keeping iPod and Frankensteinian brain-dump contraption at hand..just holler and I am on my way)
I’m going to reserve comments on the situation; there’s still too many possibilities – but I will make a couple of observations. For one, I’m reminded of the curious thing the dog did in the night. For another, Alex is now close enough to Nicodemus for combat, without having to fight his way through an entire army.
One more thing – nice incentive artwork.
What.
I can hardly wait for next page. If I have a heartattack, it’s your guilt, Sava! =D
And now the whole world will be united, as a single entity :”nightmare land”.
“Alright”????
The big dramatic moment and you say “Alright”????
Alex, Alex, Alex. Someone needs to teach you proper heroic speechwriting.
LOL!
I love you guys!
This is just what I was thinking… you took about half of the words I would have written right out of my mind. 😀
You know that you have no option of postponing tomorrow’s page now right? Half your fans will die from the suspense and the remaining half will come after YOU.
Oh no~! Don’t give him the sword Alex! I know it has to be part of the plan…but nooooo~!
oh boy! oh Boy! If I go to sleep now will tomorrow come quicker? I cannot wait to see how this goes down.
I agree with this statement! Im seriously convinced right now that Alex is going to give up the sword, so I must know what happens! =P
I like this plan! *takes a nap*
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz …
😉
Wait for it … wait for it … wait for it …
Let’s not forget the boulders that aren’t, that are strewn all over the inner courtyard!
I’m thinking Alex is the delaying tactic to put the rest of their plans in motion!
What?!
I’m good with Nick being killed off. He is not a nice guy.
YES. That! 😀
Aside from the fact that Nastaja told them to hit something, I have to wonder if not killing anyone is actually part of the plan. Surely they can’t all be that incompetent, can they?
Yes, this has been mentioned and most of us think there is a sub-plan going on. My thing is…who else have we not seen fighting? Is there anyone we haven’t seen currently engaged in the potentially faux plan that could be running a hidden counter attack? I’m super curious to see how this all plays out.
noooo don’t give up. and again i voted but no pic of nastaja
i 2nd the 2nd. motion passed scott must post tomorrows today
NOOOOOOO! …… oh ….. wait a minnit… that seemed all too easy…
Alexander nooo!!!!
Wait? Now I”m Nicole? Spooky! o_0
It’s not really… I’d think the true target is the ruler of the Nightmare Realm, whose name I can’t remember. From what the Sword said pages and pages ago suggests they mean to let the Sword remind Nicodemus of his folly in trusting the Nightmare Realm.
I know there can’t be pages and pages of battle sequences, but the apparent toll taken on the battlefield (in my mind) doesn’t seem to fit with what we’ve seen from the battle to this point. Even with the near-hit with the arrow, I never felt things were as grim for the warriors as we’re being shown here. I guess I was hoping to see more epic scenes from the battlefield. 🙂
This was unexpected.
And a bit too easy for a clever plan.
I bet that Alex has an ace up his sleeve.
Found where it was: http://thedreamlandchronicles.com/the-dreamland-chronicles/chapter-15/page-1169/
I’d say that last line from the sword hints the true purpose of all this.
Nico is the only enemy that Alex currently knows of, though. They don’t actually have any real idea yet of just how involved the Nightmare Realm is, or whether they’ll have to fight them or not.
As far as they know, taking down Nico gives them control of Dreamland, which is all they currently care about.
It’s there. The picture is very big and most of it is very dark. After you vote scroll down then scroll right. She’ll be right in the middle of that big dark rectangle.
I still don’t get why they need tone Astoria tablet, everybody already knows how he whole userper thing wen down. They only need the tablets for evidence, right?
Also btw what about all of the animal people/dwarves/millions of human children (that just happen to have super powers that could totally pwn nicodemus)
Not tone, the,
Sorry
Oh, THE SUSPENSE.
Scott, I 3rd the motion. You are not excused for skipping tomorrow’s page, close to being the “Freaking Meteorite that Killed the Dinosaurs Destroyed my House” the ONLY argument I will consider valid for not doing it. 😉
You’ve been forewarned, player…
As the Genie says, “RULE #3! I can’t bring people back from the dead. It’s not a pretty picture. I DON’T LIKE DOING IT!”
Excellent page Scott! When I forget just how HUGE Nic is, something like the first panel comes along and really puts it into perspective.
Also, the rendering in the second panel is FAB-U-LOUS! We can see Felicity’s reflection in Alex’s right shoulder.
I think I can speak for us all when I say “Thanks” for this not being Friday’s page. Waiting a whole weekend for the next page would be rough.
dreamland?
it’s more like nightmareland…
I PROMISE!
I won’t be late…
i know this is completely outta the blue… but i wanna see nicodemus as a kid dragon =3
Hey–be nice. And be glad Alex isn’t monologuing.
everyone wants Nick dead… problem is if Nick dies… thats it, game over, no more comic… Nick dies, they live happily ever after, the end.
I hope Nick lives. Gets kicked out of the kingdom perhaps, ridiculed perhaps, banished sounds good, but not dead. I don’t want the comic to end!
😀
Does Nic’s comment in the first panel remind anybody else of the Phantom of the Opera? Every time I look at it I totally hear his voice saying “One. Last. Chance.” when the Phantom is doing the voiceover while everyone is reading his letter. I can’t remember if that line was in the movie, but it is definitely in the stage production.
Nastajia: “Alex, are you going to SKEWER him already? His monologing is putting all my soldiers to sleep!”
Alex: “All right. I’ll relinquish the sword.”
*SCHHLLLGGG!*
Nicodemus: “Urk…”
Alex: “…is point-first okay?”
Me too, in fact, Scott, after this whole pattle sequence, can we get some backstory on nic? I’d really like to see where he came from and what happened to all of dragonkind. Perhaps in a flashback,
Maybe Nic’s deep seated suspiciousness of humans stems from suppressed memories of when humans could freely come to dreamland, and they ended up killing the dragons.
Pleeeeeeeeeeezzz consider it?
Our hero!
Gah! What?! Now I really don’t know what’s happening. I usually expected a Big Bad battle scene and all, but right now there’s unexplained actions and motives in the mix. I really hope it works out. D:
No, that would be me. Though at the moment I look like Crack Bear.
We have pirates. We have wraiths. We have the entire nightmare realm of baddies. Dreamland will never be free from threat, Nicodemus or no.
Nice reflections, indeed!
Hmm… I don’t know if anybody’s brought this up before (if they did, I missed it), but whenever I use Firefox to view this site, the top ad only shows after I refresh the page. At home I open Internet Explorer for the ads to show (since I have an ad-blocker installed right onto Firefox), but even Firefox at school doesn’t show the top ad (it shows the text in the red box). Anybody else experiencing this?
This would be a fun time for Alex to do a “Columbo” moment. (For those of you who don’t get the reference – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Columbo_(TV_series) )
I can see him starting to reach for the sword, stopping, and saying to Nic “Oh, there was one more thing I was wondering about. Probably not important…”
I’ll consider it.
You’re dating yourself, Xaxnar.
Next thing you’ll be referencing is Quincy.
🙂
Funny thing, note http://thedreamlandchronicles.com/the-dreamland-chronicles/chapter-15/page-1169/
And notice the elves are on perfectly flat, paved, low, level ground 🙂
Looks like the plan got disregarded 😛
oooooo…..bad move alex, if nast heard alex, she would b*tch slap him into next Tuesday!
O.o And when I just got finished saying that he wasn’t stupid.
Scott, do you love these comments? I love these comments, and it’s not even my comic. Perusing the reader reactions to every page is half the fun of reading this comic. LOVE it!
“Alright.”?…
Hmm… I think his next sentences will be something like “Now I’m tired of your monologue!”*STAB!*… “Oops! Now speak up before you DIE!” … Hm… Or would that rather be a something that Yuri from Shadow Hearts would be saying?….
So if the loopholes work the way I think they do, I’m guessing that grabbing the sword is liable to get Nic tossed out of Dreamland…or some such.
I mean, it’s either that, or there’s an explosive embedded in the hilt. But that’s just silly.
Oh, and way to not make Nic suspicious, Alex.
Hey, in Internet years, I’m probably centuries old. 😉
😀
We know, that’s why only half of us would get upset if you said you had to work on the movie thing tomorrow, and as such, no comic till next week.
FAMOUS. LAST. WORDS.
At this point the only surprise would be if Alex really does surrender and if Nastajia’s army really is that incompetent.
Maybe we can get a “dying flashback” that seem popular to use, especially in manga.
Nic: NO! This cannot be…(cue flashback) 😀
Gawd, I LOVE Columbo! 😀
Interesting character contrasting highlight, though. Nic goes on for several pages, Alex in a single word.
Spoiler: the next page was added on time without incident; Scott survived.
