Considering the shape he’s in makes sense he’s going to save himself, he can’t at this point do anything to help anyone unless he can heal himself somehow.
The apparatus Gilgamesh used to sustain his life for so long. This is why Nicodemus assessed the children. He thinks there’s still enough in them to help him gain some life back.
Nice double entendre 🙂
Nic may either mean:
1) I will use some of the life force drained from the children to heal himself
2) I will destroy the machinery draining life force from the children (and then die) to redeem myself
Bets on which is the right interpretation?
Unless he dropped it Nic still has the leaf. That would save him physically far more effectively than trying to steal Gil’s thunder. I think he’s talking about saving his soul – if dragons have souls – and doing what is right even if it kills him.
I’m not sure pulling the plug will work, Nic, Gil has already taken what he wants and has disconnected from t he mechanism. Didn’t you see him walking around just before he slapped you?
Nic was unable to remove the little leaf from the little pouch, and evidently did not think it would work to swallow the whole thing. The pouch is likely now lying on the ground after Nic got knocked through the wall. By hooking himself to the tubes Nic may both be able to heal himself and then to stop the flow, saving the lives of the children.

Will he find the self-destruct button that every villain build in his evil weapon-platform?
Oh come on nick… That is not cool.
That’s my boy! I knew you had it in you!
My two cents… There’s way how to “save somebody” and “SAVE someone”.
As I see it, Nic is doing the right thing now.
What is Nic reaching for?

Yes, I think the double entendre, is to preserve suspense.
But since the dreamland story would predictably end well, I believe it’s 2.

Perhaps he might mean to jump in and putting it in reverse? And turn all the kids into dragons, I guess? 😛

Hoping for the best, but still dreading the worst! Gosh darnit Scott! You write some good stories!
Hm. I took that to mean “redeem myself.” We shall see!

that was also my interpretation (though obviously it’s supposed to make you think otherwise)
By “Save myself!”, I suspect he means his honor? His soul? His ever-lasting memory? I think he’s trying to save the children.
