Congrats Scott! loved the images from the museum! perfect timing, in the middle of reading Dan Brown’s Inferno and there is a lot of art references (as in all his books). So it was nice to have some visual stimuli. while not the same art, similar in style.
It’s his time to grow up and step up…

I’m not sure he was really asked. We know from this page that he doesn’t think he’s “king material” and on this page and the one after it we hear part of why Dan wasn’t as interested in being King of Dreamland…because he didn’t want to take it away from Alex. There may have also been some discussion of it after Oberon & Titania arrived, but I don’t have the time to hunt down that section of story too. 😛
I’m really looking forward to how this is going to work itself out. I also am seriously curious about where Dan will appear in Dreamland. Does he just show up where the Sword last was? Or will he be somewhere else his first time? 🙂
And we’re almost done with Book 7????? o_O It feels like we only just started this book! I can’t remember now…is Book 8 the last one, or is there a Book 9?
That is a curious observation. There is a precedent in which Alexander reappeared at his last location, regardless of where the sword was. When Alex gave the sword to the elven elder (I forgot his name) for study, he later went up to the balcony with Nastajia and woke up. When Alex returned to Dreamland, he returned to the balcony, and the elder claimed he was able to see the sword disappear from Dreamland while Alex was awake.
But since Daniel has never been to Dreamland before, he doesn’t have that starting point. But if the law of the land has a magically enforced rule preventing future kings from entering while another king currently serves, that rule probably also provides for the new king’s point of entry when he finally arrives. Since his existence in Dreamland is tied to the Sword of Kings, that point of entry is probably the current Dreamland location of the sword. So I’m guessing Daniel would appear directly in front of Nicodemus.
I’m more curious about the armor. While it’s certainly magical, very little has been explicitly stated about its origins, or whether it has additional ties to true king of Dreamland.
Now that I think of it, I also wonder if Daniel will still need glasses in Dreamland.
I just can’t wait to see how this all turns out!
Thanks for the updates on the flick, and good luck on making it! I have a background in film and production, so I know how exhausting it can be. But it’s also very rewarding!

It looks like people appear in dreamland wearing what they went to sleep in, so as long as he was wearing them when he went to bed, he’ll be golden.
As for the armor, it was left in dreamland when Alex’s connection was severed. Every other time he has woken up it has dissapeared with him, so i’m guessing it was tied to Alex, not the king of dreamland.
I wonder if Nicodemus will try it on though…

Sorry, Dan–that’s the sort of “to do” list that kings get. Especially fantasy kings.
Let’s suppose the necklace DOESN’T work for Dan and realized that the power is absorbed into Alex? Which means Alex can now travel to Dreamland WITHOUT it?!?!
Alex did it pretty well. So please save us all the headache and hoarseness from yelling at the screen and just do it, Dan, PLEASE. You’re not looking like the “rightful” king of Dreamland when you refuse to accept the sword.

I was gonna suggest “visit Dreamland at long last” but yeah, there’s a lot of important stuff going on now.
I am not sure if this has been brought up before but can’t Dan simply abdicate the throne and simply hand the sword back to Alex?
Hopefully Dan should have NO romantic inclinations toward Nastajia, otherwise he’ll have to face a very furious Alex. Is it normal for brothers to fight-even over a girl?

Dan’s analytical side is such an excellent foil to Nicole’s pushy side. I think they’re very well matched, those two.
… or hang the necklace on his rear view mirror, head to a sports bar and catch the game. I haven’t seen anything that can come through any portal that the US military can’t handle with minimum effort.
